The Dad Bod Is Outdated — Here’s Why

There was a time when the “dad bod” was almost celebrated. Remember? It was supposed to say, “I’m fun, approachable, and I eat pizza on the weekends.” Cute for a while, until your knees start popping like popcorn every time you bend down to tie your kid’s cleats.

Here’s the truth: the dad bod isn’t aging well. Carrying around extra pounds isn’t just about looks, it’s about how you feel. Low energy, tight lower backs, and “I need to sit down for a minute” vibes don’t help you keep up with your kids or your busy schedule.

That’s where strength & conditioning comes in. You don’t need to be shredded like a Marvel superhero, but you do need muscle. Strength training helps you:

  • Keep up with kids who think running everywhere is normal.

  • Haul Costco boxes up the stairs like a pro.

  • Actually enjoy being active again, instead of dreading it.

The dad bod is out. Strong, energized parents are in. And let’s be honest, your kids would rather see you sprinting alongside them than snoozing on the couch.
